Electrical Permits Can Be Paid For Online

Credit Card Payments Now Accepted for Electrical Permits on DCAP’s Web Site

As of Monday, April 24, 2006, electrical contractors can now apply, pay for and print electrical permits off of the DCAP Web site.

When applying for an electrical permit online at www.cityofchicago.org/dcap , customers will see a new electrical schedule when entering application information. The redesigned format is easier to use and more convenient.

As part of the DCAP Web site improvements, electrical contractors will pay for their electrical permits online using a major credit card, instead of an escrow account.

Once electronic payment has been made, customers can then print out their own permit.

An alert notifies customers if special conditions exist or if an electrical plan review is required. In this case, customers are asked to email dcapelectr@cityofchicago.org to resolve these matters.

Contractors who have escrow accounts with the City of Chicago for electrical permits will be issued a refund by the Department of Revenue. A separate letter will be sent informing customers of the refund amount they are due.

DCAP has now made getting an online electrical permit as easy as 1 - 2 - 3.

1. Post your permit information on the online electrical permit application.

2. Pay for your permit using a major credit card.

3. Print your permit at your office, home or remote location.
